I numerosi conflitti scoppiati a partire dagli anni Novanta dello scorso secolo lo hanno reso un’area instabile, ma la sua rilevanza strategica non dovrebbe farne dimenticare la dimensione storica: posto tra il Mar Nero e il Mar Caspio, il Caucaso è infatti un’area antichissima e di grande ricchezza culturale.
