Well-illustrated, with several maps and photographical plates. The authors, father and son Alfred (1836-1921) and Guillaume (1873-1957) were the foremost explorers of Madagascar. They edited and published the famous, authoritative, Histoire Physique, Naturelle et Politique de Madagascar, which was published between 1875 and 1958 and written by the Grandidiers tohether with many specialists in diverse fields of zoology and botany. All parts are rare. This is the complete part on the origin of the various groups of inhabitants, including both "indigenous" people and "foreigners".
