312pp, frontis port. yellow cloth. Maj. Yeats-Brown's autobiographical account of his experiences in the Balkans and Middle East from 1908-1918. He was in the Royal Flying Corps in Mesopotamia (on a mission for Townshend of Kut), when he was captured by Turks, taken to Baghdad, Mosul, and the "Black Opium City" of Afion karahissar, but escaped by 1918. He incorporated material (pp.107-268) from "Caught by the Turks" published 13 years earlier. Known also as the author of "The Lives of a Bengal Lancer". Istanbul (Stanboul, Constantinople) during the reign of Abdul Hamid.and he rise of the Young Turks, Balkan wars, armenian genocide, through the murder of the Archduke at Serajevo up to the World War.
