Inscription dated 1830 inside front board. No other added marks No creasing to covers, creasing to leather spine. Clean very tight pages with unmarked rubbed marbled boards and well-rubbed edges, foxing to end papers and a few other pages and dusty page edges. Gilt lettered leather spine and corners rubbed and top of spine slightly frayed. 528pp. The characters, descriptions and uses of the animals from the Adive (similar to a Jackal) to the Zorilla (or African skunk). Excellent figure engravings on wood by Thomas Bewick.
